Teresa J. Horan

Teresa J. Horan, 89, Greensburg, passed away on April 8, 2020 at Morning Breeze Nursing Home in Greensburg.

Born, January 17, 1931 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Gregory A. and Charlotta E. (Stier) Schroeder.

Teresa graduated from St. Paul High School.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, St. Lawrence Auxiliary, the Linger- A-While Home Ec. Club, and was a long-time associate of the Sisters of St. Francis.

She had several occupations through the years including delivering newspapers, working at IGA supermarket, Marion Township trustee, Cooking at Stone’s Restaurant, driving a school bus, and working with the Meals on Wheels program. In recent years she was a homemaker and always enjoyed playing cards or dominos with friends and family.

Teresa was married to James Charles Horan at St. Mary’s on May 7, 1953 and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1972.

Teresa is survived by five sons; Dennis J. (Anne Marie Paul) Horan, Greensburg, Anthony C. Horan, New Palestine, Joseph G. (Eileen) Horan, Indianapolis, William E. (Dawn) Horan, Bluffton, Thomas L. (Suzanne) Horan, Greensburg, four daughters; Sharon A. Kreuz, Columbus, OH, Kathleen T. (Bryan) Cunningham, Portland, OR, Nancy M. (Kenny) Buening, Greensburg, Susan C. (Gerald) Huey, Greensburg, one sister; Catherine E. Mauer, Greensburg, 39 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son and daughter-in-law; Donald P. and Barbara L. (Martin) Horan, 5 brothers; Paul G., Louis B., Carl J., David A., and Justin R. Schroeder, three brothers in infancy, and three sisters; Margaret Mauer, Sr. Rose Mary Schroeder, and Sr. Cecilia M. Schroeder.

Due to the recent public health safety mandate of limited gatherings, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made in Teresa’s honor to St. Mary’s Church or School through Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home.
