(Franklin County, IN) – A teen driver lost his life in a one-vehicle accident shortly after 4:30 Thursday afternoon on the 5,000 block of Highland Center Road.
An investigation by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies determined a 16-year-old driver from Liberty was southbound on Highland Center in a 2001 Ford F-250 pick up truck when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the right side of the road.
The unidentified driver overcorrected, which caused the pickup truck to cross the road and go off the east side of the road over an embankment.
The pickup truck rolled several times and the teen was ejected.
He was pronounced dead while in route to the hospital.
Deputies say he was not wearing his seat belt.
The accident is still under investigation.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police, Indiana State Excise Police, the Brookville and New Trenton volunteer fire departments, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, and Letts EMS.
