WEST HARRISON, In. – Students and teachers at Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School will be soaking up the fun for a good cause Friday.
Twenty-six lucky faculty members will be doused with buckets of ice for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
The summer phenomenon was launched in an effort to promote awareness for research of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
If you haven’t taken part in the splash yourself than you’ve most likely seen it on television or Facebook.
Fifth and sixth grade students at Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate have been raising money for ALS. On Friday, they will be buying tickets for $1 to be able to have a chance of dumping the bucket of ice onto the teacher of their choice.
Music Teacher Jeannie Herman said faculty and students have collectively raised approximately $500 toward the organization as of Wednesday. The Ice Bucket Challenge will be held Friday afternoon at the school.
