Stella Feiss, 95, rejoined her loving and deeply missed husband Ted in the morning of February 10, 2022, after 6 long years of being apart. We know they are dancing to Frank Sinatra, and so happy to be reunited. Stell, as Ted lovingly referred to her lived her life for her children, grandchildren and was beyond happy when all the great-grand babies came into this world. She found joy not only in raising her children, but watching them creating their own families, raising amazing kids of their own and then watching them start families and blessing her with great-grand babies. The pride and joy she showed anytime she got to visit with or talk about those babies was contagious.
In her 95 years, she saw so much and accomplished more. Stella was born in Florida on September 18, 1926. Her family then moved back to the tri-state living in Cheviot, Ohio until she married Ted on July 6, 1946. In 1956, Ted and Stella moved to Aurora, Indiana to raise their family on their farm. She was an amazing seamstress, taking scrap material and making the most beautiful things for their kids, from dresses and school clothes to beautiful outfits to show their horses, then later wedding dresses, prom dresses, christening outfits, flower girl dresses and the list goes on. She went on to share her love for creating with many of her family and some got very familiar with the seam ripper. Stella and Ted were known to attend the many different livestock shows and sporting events (even though she knew very little about these sports) of their grandchildren. Sitting front and center to make sure they could see from every angle. Every time the grandkids would come to see them after she was always encouraging “honey, you did great” then she’d ask secretly, “did they do good?”. She might not have always known how the game was played but nonetheless she was there anytime she was invited to support and cheer on her family. Then she would say “where are we going to eat” or add her personal philosophy “eat something, it’ll make you feel better”. This amazing and strong woman was also well known for her cooking and being able to feed an army and that army quickly became this family she started with no notice. It could be last minute visitors, feeding the hay crew that showed up to help Ted, birthday’s, holidays, anytime she had the opportunity, she would never disappoint.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted of 69 years, son-in-law Phil Weaver, and sister and brother-in-law Margie and Tommy Sefton. She is survived by her children Bev Weaver who lives in Aurora, Bonnie (Jerry) Morano of Rising Sun, Todd (Tarry) Feiss of Lawrenceburg, Jeff (Mary Jean) Feiss of Rising Sun, and Annie (Ross) Cutter who live in Dillsboro. Grandchildren, Amanda (Britton) Blair, Adam (Alison) Weaver, Dan (Amy) Taylor, Lindsey (Ryne) Burnett, Kali Morano, Tad (Alix) Feiss, Travis Feiss, Derek (Kim) Feiss, Marcie (Steve) Kelly, Brandon (Michelle) Feiss, Ashely (Ben) Huff, Molly (Ryan) Barker, Corey (Mike) Rudolf, Jordan (Lainey) Cutter, and Shelby (Jacob) Mullins and 28 great grandchildren with several on the way.
Stella’s love will live on through her family, she always encouraged us to spend time with loved ones. Call as often as you can and catch up. Take the time to sit and watch the animals in the pasture on a beautiful day. Play with the dogs and spoil them. Love on all the babies even if they are sleeping. Make sure your family knows how much you love them ALWAYS. Have a party for any reason you want and enjoy it. Stop and talk to everyone you know at Walmart. Fix yourself up a little, it’ll make you feel better. Always have a plan to stop and eat anytime you are away from home. We as a family will remember so much about our Grammy, but just thinking about her hands maybe most, they cared for both her and Ted’s parents, her children, and grandchildren then played with her sweet great grand babies. At the end they may have seen better days, black and blue, her fingers were crooked and wouldn’t straighten from endless hours working in her rock garden or working to make beautiful things through sewing, crafting, decorating, and really anything anyone needed; but the love that we all felt from those hands will live on.
We want to give a special thanks to all medical staff that so lovingly helped care for her over the last few months. We are forever grateful for your time, patience, dedication, and compassion. You were an amazing gift to her and our family. Words cannot describe the thanks we have for each and every one that worked with her, and we’ll continue to pray for you and the new families that will have the honor of working with you going forward.
Friends will be received on Friday February 18, from 11 am – 1 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana
Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm.
