Statewide Tornado Drill This Morning

(Statewide) – We have this reminder that the statewide tornado test drill takes place at 10:15 this morning.

It’s a chance for every business, school and family to prepare and know what to do when a tornado warning is issued.

This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana, as proclaimed by Gov. Mike Braun.

Severe Weather Preparedness Week runs through Saturday.

(Statewide) – Governor Mike Braun has proclaimed March 9-15 Severe Weather Preparedness Week in the State of Indiana.

Since 1950, Indiana has recorded more than 1,400 tornadoes, which resulted in over 300 deaths and 5,000 injuries.

The state also experienced 76 flooding or heavy rain events in 2022, and since 1994, Indiana has received 12 disaster declarations related to flooding.

The National Weather Service, in conjunction with Indiana State Police, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, the Indiana Department of Education, the Indiana Broadcasters Association, the American Red Cross, and Amateur Radio Operators will conduct a statewide test of communication systems on Tuesday, March 11 at 10:15 a.m.

Every Hoosier business, school and family is urged to participate in the statewide tornado drill.
