
(STATEWIDE) – The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association has announced its Players and Teams of the Week for performances during the week of Dec. 22–27, recognizing standout efforts across the state.
Mt. Vernon (Fortville) senior Luke Ertel headlined the individual honors after averaging 25.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists over five games. The Purdue recruit posted a triple-double and three additional double-doubles as the Class 4A No. 7 Marauders went 4-1 for the week.
Ertel was joined as IBCA Players of the Week by Crown Point senior Dikembe Shaw, Silver Creek senior Dane Caldwell, Warsaw senior Brooke Zartman, Clinton Central senior Carly Davison and Crawford County senior Emery Stroud.
On the boys side, Crown Point, Gibson Southern and Mt. Vernon (Fortville) were named IBCA/Ballogy Teams of the Week. The Crown Point boys went 2-0 for the week, while Gibson Southern captured the Toyota Classic with wins over Evansville Central, Wood Memorial and Class 3A No. 5 Princeton. Mt. Vernon (Fortville) finished 4-1 during the recognition period.
The Valparaiso girls earned Team of the Week honors after defeating Class 4A co-No. 1 Norwell and host Fort Wayne Snider to win the Snider Classic.
Players of the Week are selected by IHSAA district, while Team of the Week honors are awarded at the discretion of the program’s coordinators. Athletes and teams are evaluated based on performances during a Monday-through-Saturday competition window.
The IBCA Player of the Week program is in its 18th season, while the Team of the Week program, presented by Ballogy, is in its second season.
