Stanley E. Allen, age 82, of Metamora, Indiana died Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Veterans Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born January 18, 1937 in Brookville, Indiana he was the son of the late Bleve C. & Edith O. (Burch) Allen. On May 15, 1992 he was united in marriage to Teresa Wyatt, and she survives.
Stanley was employed for many years for Owens Corning Inc. in California, then retiring from Owens Corning in Brookville, Indiana. After retirement at Owens Corning he began a second Career at the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Metamora, where he assisted with operations of the Grist Mill at the Whitewater Canal State Historic Site, until his illness forced him to retire completely in July 2019. In his leisure time he enjoyed farming, gardening and planting trees.
Besides Teresa, his loving wife of 28 years, survivors include five children, Morgan Allen of Metamora, Indiana, Matthew (Amanda) Allen of Metamora, Indiana; Lavonne Hall, Duane Allen and Matthew Allen all of Bakersfield, California; three sisters, Jean Ott of Metamora, Indiana, Sharon Rasner of Connersville, Indiana, and Peggy Free of Connersville, Indiana; three brothers, Delbert Allen and Melvin Paul Allen both of Metamora, Indiana and Walter Allen of Brookville, Indiana; six grandchildren as well as one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Wireman and Teri Wilson, as well as a brother, Isham Allen.
Family & friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, with full military honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion to follow at the Funeral Home.
