The St. Louis 8th Grade Lady Cardinals earned a hard fought 26-16 victory over North Decatur. The 1st quarter was a back and forth battle led by Belle Young who scored all four points in the quarter on the way to a 4-3 Lady Cardinal lead. The 2nd quarter the Lady cardinals used defense and the offense powered by Gina Grote who scored 5 of her game high 10 points to a 13-8 halftime lead. The Lady Cardinals came out hot in the 3rd quarter and used turnovers to led to easy baskets. They Lady Cardinals closed out the quarter on a 12-2 run for a 25-10 lead. The 4th quarter once again saw the Lady Cardinals play good defense but they missed a few easy chances but still hung on for the 26-16 victory. Gina Grote had 10 points, Belle Young had 9 points, Aubrey Baker had 3 points and Maggie Tekulve and Olivia Leising each had 2 points.
