The St. Louis Boys 6th Grade White team played an overtime thriller vs St. Maty’s North Vernon. The 1st quarter saw the Cardinals jump out to an early lead. Jaxson Watson got the scoring started with an early basket and Grant Hartwell soon followed suit. The quarter ended with a three-pointer by Hunter Young to give the Cardinals a 9-2 lead. The 2nd quarter was controlled by St. Mary’s as they used a 12-7 run to climb within two points to 16-14 at halftime. From there, the game went back and forth. The 3rd quarter ended tied at 20-20. In the 4th quarter, St. Mary’s jumped out to a 27-21 lead. Grant Hartwell then made a basket to cut the lead to 27-23. The Cardinals then used a full-court press to create a couple of turnovers and Hunter Young made the next two baskets to tie the game at 27-27 at the end of the 4th quarter. The overtime was close but Grant Hartwell provided the winning basket and the Cardinals held on to a 29-27 victory. The Cardinals were led in scoring by Hunter Young with 17 points followed by Grant Hartwell with 10 points and Jaxson Watson with 2.
