Sr. Carol Ann Mause, OSF

Sr. Carol Ann Mause, age 80 of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana died on July 3, 2024, at the Motherhouse in Oldenburg, Indiana.  Sr. Carol Ann was born on January 24, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest of three, to Frank and Rita (Nee: Burkhart) Mause.  Her father was a meatcutter and her mother was a sales lady.

Sr. Carol Ann attended Seton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.  On September 9, 1962, she became a postulant of the Franciscan Sisters at Oldenburg, making her final vows on August 12, 1968.  She attended Marian College for her bachelor’s degree in education and went on to receive her master’s in administration from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.

Sr. Carol Ann began as a primary teacher in Missouri and then in Cincinnati.  After 11 years, she returned to Missouri as Principal and middle school teacher for six years.  Sr. Carol Ann’s mission turned to pastoral ministry, which she served in Indiana from 1985-1993.  She then returned as Principal for the next 24 years throughout schools in Indiana and Ohio.

Sr. Carol Ann returned to the Motherhouse in 2017 where she spent her final years enjoying her Sisters in community.

Survived by her sister Dee (Len) Boehmer; brother-in-law Greg Hale; nieces and nephew Becky (Wayne) Wichman, Kevin (Tonnya) Boehmer, and Jenny Hester; great nieces and nephews Brandon Hester, Courtney Boehmer, Lexi Boehmer, Alex Wichman, Maddy Wichman, Kaitlynn Hester, and Nick Wichman.  Preceded in death by parents Frank and Rita (Nee: Burkhart) Mause and sister Terri Hale.

Prayer and visitation will be held Tuesday, July 9th, from 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 10:30 a.m., all at the convent chapel, with Fr.
