Oldenburg Academy boys soccer knocked off Rising Sun 3-1 at the Graveyard on Monday. It’s Twisters coach Ken Getz’ 200th career win. Adam Weber, Rylan Hill and Connor Holder scored goals for OA. Goalkeeper Ryan Hautman made five saves for the Twisters, including one on a penalty kick.

North Decatur girls golf bested Rushville 231-236 at Arbor Crossing.

Batesville boys tennis swept Milan 5-love to improve to 10-4 on the season.

Greensburg junior high cross country ran at the seven-team Panther Invitational at Muscatatuck Park in Jennings County. The Pirate girls finished third. Maria Scholle and Hadley Davis came in first and second, individually. The Pirate boys finished fourth.

Batesville and East Central split in middle school cross country. The host Trojans won the boys race 24-31 while the Bulldogs won the girls race 18-39.

North Decatur junior high volleyball took two from Southwestern (Shelby).  It was the Chargers on top in the 7th grade match 25-19, 25-22. North Decatur won the 8th grade contest by scores of 25-14, 25-16.

Batesville Middle School volleyball swept East Central. The Bulldog 7th graders won in three sets (25-17, 25-24, 15-13). And the BMS 8th grade team improved to 10-0 with a two set victory (25-23,, 25-23).

The Reds defeated the Cardinals 11-6 in the series opener in St. Louis as heard last night on WRBI. Will Benson’s RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 8th inning scored Sal Stewart with what turned out to be the game winning run. Cincinnati tacked on four more in the 9th – the big blow was Tyler Stephenson’s bases loaded double to left field that plated three runs. The Reds (75-75) inched to within two games of the idle New York Mets for the final National League Wild Card spot with 12 games remaining in the regular season. The middle game of the series is tonight. Lefthander Andrew Abbott starts for the Reds. The Cardinals go with righthander Michael McGreevy. Coverage begins at 7:15 on 103.9 FM.

Relief pitcher Brent Suter is the Reds Roberto Clemente Award nominee this year. The prestigious award annually recognizes the Major League Baseball player who best represents the game through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions both on and off the field. In NFL news, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor on Monday confirmed that quarterback Joe Burrow will undergo surgery to repair torn ligaments in his toe. Burrow suffered the injury in the first half of the Bengals win over Jacksonville on Sunday. He’s expected to miss at least three months. Jake Browning will start at quarterback for the Bengals.
On Monday Night Football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got past the Houston Texans 20-19 in the first game of the doubleheader…It was the Los Angeles Chargers over the Las Vegas Raiders 20-9 in the nightcap.
The Indiana Fever looks to stay alive in the WNBA Playoffs when they host the Atlanta Dream in Game Two of their series tonight. The Dream leads the best of three series one game to none.
