A couple of local players medaled at the IHSAA Girls Golf finals at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. Batesville as a team carded a seventh place finish. The Bulldogs’ Ava South came in fifth place individually. It’s her third podium finish in as many years. East Central’s Rowan Pies came in seventh overall out of 111 for a podium finish and a medal.

Batesville outgunned host East Central 3-2 to win the IHSAA boys tennis sectional in St. Leon. The Bulldogs improve to 12-10 and advance to tomorrow’s Regional semifinal, where they will take on host Columbus North. The Trojans’ Joe Richter won in #1 singles and moves on in the tournament as an individual player. Elsewhere, Connersville eliminated Franklin County 4-1 in the first round on Friday. The host Spartans win that sectional.

The matchups for the 53rd IHSAA Volleyball State Tournament were announced last night. We have the rundown on who local teams will play on the Sports page of wrbiradio.com.

Batesville takes on Switzerland County in the first round of the IHSAA boys soccer sectional tonight at South Dearborn. Terrance Arney will have the call on 103.9 FM and the WRBI app starting at 5 p.m.

In the NFL yesterday, Justin Tucker’s 24 yard field goal in Overtime lifted the Baltimore Ravens over the Bengals 41-38 in Cincinnati. The Bengals drop to 1-4 on the season…The Jaguars held off the Colts 37-34 in Jacksonville. Indianapolis falls to 2-3 while the Jags win for the first time this year.

In the Major League Baseball playoffs, the Phillies topped the New York Mets 7-6 in game two of their National League Division Series in Philadelphia; and the San Diego Padres crushed the Dodgers 10-2 in Los Angeles. Both series are tied at one game a piece. The two American League Division Series resume this afternoon and evening. Cleveland and the New York Yankees lead their respective best-of-five series one game to none. The Guardians take on the Detroit Tigers while the Yankees entertain the Kansas City Royals.

And Ricky Stenhouse Jr. took the checkered flag at the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Talladega, Alabama.
