Batesville’s Jake Chapman and Kaylynn Bedel; Gabe Riehle from Milan and the East Central girls team advanced to the cross country state finals in Terre Haute after posting qualifying times in Saturday’s regional at Shelbyville. The top 15 individuals from non‐advancing teams and the first five qualifying teams from each regional go on to the state finals.

In the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers outlasted the Pacers 118-114 in Overtime yesterday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Seven Pacers scored in double figures in a losing effort, led by Tyrese Haliburton with 22 points.

Christie Sides is out as head coach of the Indiana Fever after two seasons. The team went 33-47 in regular season play under Sides, who guided the Fever to the WNBA playoffs this year, where they were swept in the first round by Connecticut. Sides also oversaw the development of back-to-back WNBA rookies of the year Aliyah Boston in 2023 and Caitlin Clark in ’24.
