North Decatur bested South Dearborn 51-32 in girls basketball last night. The Chargers Brooklyn White led all scorers with 14 points while teammate Jo Whitaker added 13…And it was Morristown over Milan 49-24.
Batesville Middle School boys basketball swept a pair from South Decatur. It was the host Bulldogs in the 7th grade game 42-36, while BMS took the 8th grade contest 53-25. The Bulldog 7th graders improve to 8-2 while the 8th grade squad remains undefeated at 9-0.
Batesville fell to Switzerland County in the Bulldogs varsity wrestling season opener 45-29 in Vevay. Match winners for the Bulldogs were Carson Weiler, Adam Brewer, Isaac Enneking, Dylan Comer and Ryan Ollier.
Milan takes on 2nd ranked South Putnam for the Class 1A South Semi-state football championship tonight at the Teepee. Rob Lafary and I have the call on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App starting with pregame at 7:10. The winner advances to the 1A State Championship game against either Pioneer or South Adams next Friday morning at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Indiana Pacers visit the Cleveland Cavaliers in NBA Cup Group play tonight. Tipoff is at 7:00.
In college basketball, the Purdue Boilermakers are the top-ranked team in the nation again, and they protected that ranking with a win over Memphis 80-71 last night. The Boilermakers are taking part in the Baha Mar Championship in the Bahamas. Fletcher Loyer’s 20 points led the way for the Boilermakers. Head coach Matt Painter says they need to be better emotionally after Trey Kaufman-Renn fouled out of the game. They take on #15 Texas Tech late tonight.
The Indiana Hoosiers took care of Lindenwood with relative ease on Thursday 73-53. Tucker DeVries’ 25 points led Indiana. Sam Alexis also grabbed 10 rebounds. With the win, the Hoosiers move to 5-0 on the season. There are just two games left before the Hoosiers begin Big Ten play against Minnesota. Until then, they take on Kansas State next Tuesday and then Bethune-Cookman over Thanksgiving weekend.
