Batesville rolled over South Dearborn 50-15 in girls basketball last night on the Sports Voice. The Bulldogs’ Maggie Jelinek led all scorers with 15 points. Molly Gesell added 13. Batesville squares its record at 1-1. The Knights fall to 0-3.

In other games involving area teams last night, South Decatur went on the road and knocked off Morristown 43-37; Shawe Memorial bested Oldenburg Academy 45-39, and it was Hauser over Milan 55-33.

Batesville Middle School boys basketball swept last night’s Crosstown Shootout with a pair of wins at St. Louis. The 7th grade Bulldogs defeated the Cardinals 40-15 to improve to 6-2. The BMS 8th graders dominated, 56-18, and remain undefeated at 7-0.

St. Louis 6th grade boys basketball took down South Dearborn 39-13.

It is high school football regional week, and we have a pair of games tonight on WRBI. 7th ranked East Central hosts #1 and undefeated New Palestine in 5A action in St. Leon. Rob Moorhead and Jerry Stenger have the call on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App starting with pregame at 6:40…Milan travels to defending state champion and 4th ranked Providence in 1A play. In Class 3A, it’s #4 Lawrenceburg welcoming in 3rd ranked and 12-0 Cascade to The Pit.

The Phoenix Suns ripped the Indiana Pacers 133-98 in NBA action heard last night on WRBI. Indiana has now dropped six straight and falls to 1-11. Andrew Nembhard led the Pacers with 21 points. The Blue and Gold returns home from the western road trip tomorrow night when they face Toronto.

The Cincinnati Reds have added bullpen coach Oscar Marin (pronounced “mah-REEN”) to manager Terry Francona’s staff. Matt Tracy has moved to assistant pitching coach after serving as the club’s bullpen coach for the last three seasons. Former assistant pitching coach Simon Mathews left the Reds to become the Washington Nationals pitching coach of the Washington Nationals. Marin enters his 17th season as a professional pitching coach and eighth as a member of a Major League coaching staff. He joins the Reds after spending the last six years as the Pittsburgh Pirates’ pitching coach, where he oversaw a staff that featured 2025 National League Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes.
