Batesville knocked off Columbus East 5-2 in varsity baseball last evening. Mason Jones went 3 for 3 to lead the Bulldogs offense. Carson Schneider was the winning pitcher. He gave up four hits, two runs (none earned), struck out eight Olympians and walked one in four innings. Batesville improves to 12-3 on the season.

Oldenburg Academy doubled up Trinity Lutheran 12-6 on the road. Clay Eckstein tossed a complete game for the Twisters.

In junior high baseball, it was Eastern Hancock over North Decatur 13-3.

On the links, North Decatur topped Morristown in boys varsity golf 180-227 last evening at North Branch. Owen Eldridge took medalist honors with a 41.

In middle school golf, it was Batesville 157, Rising Sun 175 and host Switzerland County 216. The Bulldogs Stella Maple was the medalist with a 37.

Jac-Cen-Del got past East Central in a three-way match that included St. Louis. It was the Eagles 213, the Trojans 215 and the Cardinals 233.

The IHSAA Executive Committee on Tuesday approved sectional alignments for four fall sports. The sectional alignments for boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball and football will be used this fall and take into account movement between classifications due to the Tournament Success Factor in each sport. Tyrese Haliburton’s three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left in regulation lifted the Pacers over the Cavaliers 120-119 in Game Two of the Eastern Conference semifinals in Cleveland, as heard last night on the Sports Voice. Indiana holds a two games to none lead in the best of seven series heading into Game Three Friday night in Indianapolis.

The Braves outlasted the Reds 2-1 in 10 innings in Atlanta in a game heard last night on WRBI. Game three of the series is tonight. Coverage begins at 6:45 on 103.9 FM.

Reds rookie outfielder/second baseman Tyler Calihan underwent successful surgery on his broken left forearm. Calihan suffered the injury Monday night when he crashed into the leftfield wall trying to make a catch. He was placed on the 10-day injured list and will not be able to participate in baseball activity for 6-8 weeks.
