East Central hosted and won the 14-team girls track and field sectional last night. The Trojans finished with 134.5 points. Runner up Batesville came in with 99. Franklin County was fourth with 59 and Oldenburg Academy was seventh with 32 points.

Congratulations to Milan’s Kynadee Bode. She was named ORVC Softball Player of the Week. At the plate, Bode had 14 hits, drove in 12, scored 11 runs, had two triples, a double and a home run in six games last week. On the mound, she pitched 27 innings, gave up 14 hits, 14 runs (seven earned), struck out 37 batters, and tossed a no-hitter, a one-hitter and a two-hitter last week. The Pirates blanked the Reds 1-0 in Pittsburgh in a game heard last night on WRBI. The loss snaps Cincinnati’s five game winning streak. The game’s only run came in the bottom of the sixth inning. The rubber game of the series is afternoon. Brady Singer starts for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by lefthander Andrew Heaney. WRBI coverage begins following the Noon news block.

The Pacers go up against the New York Knicks in Game One of the Eastern Conference finals tonight at Madison Square Garden. Broadcast time on the Sports Voice is 7:30.

The grandstands at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are sold out for the 109th running of the Indy 500 on Sunday. IMS officials say all reserved seats in the grandstands and suites will be filled. About 350-thousand people are expected to watch the race in person. WRBI will have coverage of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing on Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m.

NFL owners unanimously voted yesterday to allow active players to participate in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The International Olympic Committee voted in October 2023 to add flag football to the ’28 Summer Olympics for the first time in the Games’ history.
