Greensburg downed Lawrenceburg 63-45 in the Class 3A Sectional 29 lid lifter at South Dearborn as heard last night on the Sports Voice. Max Buening led the Pirates with 16 points; Jonah Hellmich added 12 off the bench, and Jacoby Miller tossed in 10. The Tigers’ Kaleb Cole led all scorers with 18 points and Trevor Fricke added 10. Greensburg improves to 12-13 and advances to Friday night’s 6:00 semifinal against rival Batesville. Lawrenceburg ends the season at 7-18…

In Class 1A Sectional 60 at Milan, the host Indians rallied from 13 down at halftime to beat Crothersville 53-44 in the second contest heard last night on WRBI. Gabe Riehle led the Tribe with 14 points while teammate Ethan Clark added 13. Milan improves to 13-10 and will play Trinity Lutheran in the first semifinal on Friday at the Teepee.

In other first round sectional action last night involving area teams, Jennings County eliminated Franklin County 54-46 in 3A play at South Dearborn. The Wildcats end the season at 9-14…And it was Franklin Community over East Central 49-27 in Class 4A Sectional 14 at Columbus North. The Trojans finish at 9-15.

First round boys basketball sectional action continues tonight on the Sports Voice with another doubleheader. In the opener, Jac-Cen-Del and Oldenburg Academy meet in Class 1A Sectional 60 at Milan, followed by county rivals North Decatur against South Decatur in Class 1A Sectional 59 at Tri. Four local girls basketball players have been named to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association 2025-26 All State teams. Claire Larrison of Greensburg was named to the First Team, while teammate Aly Powers and East Central’s Natalie Stenger were chosen for the Second Team. And Gina Grote from Oldenburg Academy was selected to the Third Team.

In the NBA, the Indiana Pacers open a four-game West Coast road trip tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. WRBI coverage begins following high school sectional basketball.

Ball State got past Western Michigan 74-71 in an overtime thriller in Muncie last night. Coming up this evening in college basketball around the state, #13 Purdue is at Northwestern; Indiana welcomes Minnesota; Notre Dame is home against Stanford, and Butler entertains Creighton.

The Indianapolis Colts have placed the transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones. The transition tag gives the Colts the right to match any offer Jones receives in free agency. If he does not sign a competing offer sheet, Jones would earn a one-year guaranteed salary of over $37-million. Indy still hopes to sign wide receiver and former UC Bearcat Alec Pierce to an extension before free agency begins next week.
