The 3rd-ranked Hauser Jets’ season came to an end when they fell to #2 Barr-Reeve 52-47 in the IHSAA Class 1A boys basketball South semi-state championship game at Washington’s Hatchet House heard Saturday night on the Sports Voice. Coach Trent Moorhead’s team advanced to the title game with a 54-40 win over #11 Bloomfield earlier in the day. In that contest, the Jets’ Gavin Keller tossed in a game-high 22 points; Stryker Gill added 15, and Kameron Blair contributed 11. Hauser finishes the year at 26-3.

The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Cleveland Guardians 8-2 in the Cactus League finale in Goodyear, Arizona heard yesterday on WRBI. The Reds open a two-game exhibition series in Milwaukee tonight against the Brewers. Airtime on 103.9 FM is 7:25…In a roster move on Sunday, the Reds reassigned to minor league camp and optioned to Triple-A Louisville righthanded pitcher Kyle Nicolas.

Indiana Pacers center Ivica Zubac will miss the rest of the season after suffering a fractured rib last week against Portland. In addition to dealing with a number of other injuries, the Pacers have one of the worst records in the NBA. They’ll try to snap a 16-game losing streak tonight in Orlando against the Magic.

In college basketball, Purdue advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen by downing Miami of Florida 79-69 in second round action yesterday in St. Louis. The Boilermakers Fletcher Loyer led all scorers with 24 points. Purdue meets Texas in the West Region semifinal in San Jose, California on Thursday. It will be the Boilermakers’ seventh trip to the Sweet Sixteen in the last nine NCAA tournaments.
