High school baseball sectional champions will be crowned tonight. In a Class 3A doubleheader heard on WRBI Saturday, Batesville topped host Jennings County 8-3 and Greensburg hammered South Dearborn 9-1. The Bulldogs and Pirates play for the championship this evening. Coverage on the Sports Voice begins at 5:15.

North Decatur rolled over Tri 13-0 in the 1A semifinal at Morristown on Saturday. The Chargers go up against Knightstown in sectional title game tonight…Oldenburg Academy crushed Shawe Memorial 10-2 in the 1A semifinal at Jac-Cen-Del. The Twisters face Hauser for the championship this evening.

The Pacers are in the NBA Finals after eliminating the New York Knicks 125-108 Saturday night in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in a contest heard on WRBI. Paskal Siakim was named Eastern Conference Finals MVP. It’s the Pacers first trip to the NBA Finals in 25 years. Game One will be Thursday night in Oklahoma City against the Thunder.

The Chicago Cubs beat the Reds 7-3 yesterday at Wrigley Field in game heard on WRBI. Elly de la Cruz, who was playing hours after his sister passed away, clubbed a two-run homer, which was his 50th career round tripper. The first place Cubs took two out of three games in the series. The Reds return home tonight to begin a three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers. We’ll join the game on 103.9 FM following high school baseball sectional coverage.

Veteran lefthanded pitcher Wade Miley triggered the opt-out clause in his Minor League contract with the Reds and is now a free agent to look elsewhere for a starting job. Miley signed a Minor League deal with the Reds in February while rehabbing from 2024 Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. The deal included a standard June 1 opt-out if he hadn’t reached the Major Leagues.

Kyle Kirkwood took the checkered flag at IndyCar’s Detroit Grand Prix yesterday. It’s Kirkwood’s second win on the circuit this year.
