Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies hit three home runs in an unprecedented swing off to lift the National League over the American 7-6 in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game last night in Atlanta. The game was tied at 6-6 after nine innings, and it was determined the outcome would be decided by the six-man home run swing off – three participants for the NL and three for the Junior Circuit. The National League outhomered the AL 4-3. Schwarber was named MVP of the Midsummer Classic for going 3-for-3 in the swing off. The  It’s the National League’s second win in the All-Star Game in the last three years. As for Reds representatives, shortstop Elly De La Cruz went 0 for 2 at the plate in a reserve role, and Andrew Abbott pitched a perfect, three up, three down 6th inning.

The Indiana Fever went on the road and knocked off the Connecticut Sun 85-77 in WNBA action last night.  Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 20 points. Natasha Howard added 18 points and 13 rebounds. It’s the Fever’s third straight win. They’re now 12-1o on the year.

Fever guard Caitlin Clark will participate in the WNBA All-Star 3-Point Contest on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse during All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. It will be Clark’s first WNBA 3-Point Contest appearance.
