St. Louis 8th grade boys basketball topped Milan 43-21 in the first round of the SEI tournament. The Cardinals move on to tonight’s semifinal at Jac-Cen-Del.

Also in the SEI tournament, Batesville’s 8th grade squad bested South Dearborn 45-32. The Bulldogs play at Greendale in the semifinals tonight.

In the 7th grade SEI tourney, Batesville knocked off South Dearborn 54-31. BMS plays South Ripley in the semifinal tonight at Greendale Middle School.

Franklin County visits Jac-Cen-Del in boys basketball tonight on the Sports Voice. Coverage begins around 7:15 on 103,9 FM, wrbiradio.com and the WRBI app…Also coming up tonight, Oldenburg welcomes Purdue Poly North to the Feldhaus.

In girls basketball, East Central visits Lawrenceburg, South Ripley hosts South Dearborn, Class 1A #4 Oldenburg travels to Trinity Lutheran,  Jac-Cen-Del goes to Switzerland County, and South Decatur journeys to Edinburgh.

Ohio State is the  national champion after holding off Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff final last night in Atlanta. Trailing 31-7, the Fighting Irish scored two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions to make it a one-score game late in the fourth quarter, but Notre Dame was unable to complete the comeback attempt. Both teams finish at 14-2. The Buckeyes win their first national championship since 2014.

Purdue hosts the Ohio State men’s basketball team tonight. Tipoff in West Lafayette is at 7:30…

The Boilermakers come into tonight’s game at #11 in this week’s AP Top 25 College Basketball Poll. Auburn remains #1, followed by Duke, Iowa State, Alabama and Florida to round out the top five.

The Bengals on Monday named Scott Peters offensive line coach and Michael McCarthy as assistant offensive line coach. Both Peters and McCarthy come to Cincinnati from the New England Patriots.

The Colts have hired Lou Anarumo as defensive coordinator. Anarumo spent the past six seasons in the same role with the Bengals.
