St. Louis 6th grade girls basketball notched a 29-10 win at home over St. Lawrence last night. Six Cardinals got in the scoring column, led by Edie Walke with 10 points. St. Louis will host Franklin County tomorrow night.
The Philadelphia 76ers downed the Indiana Pacers 135-114 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Andrew Nembhard and Micah Potter both scored 23 points to lead the Pacers. Indiana’s homestand continues tomorrow night against Charlotte.
In college basketball last night, Northwestern slid past Indiana 72-68; #1 Duke throttled Notre Dame 100-56, and Ball State nipped UMass 74-73 in overtime.
The Cincinnati Reds got past the Kansas City Royals 5-4 in Cactus League play yesterday in Goodyear, Arizona. The Reds visit the Chicago White Sox this afternoon in Phoenix. First pitch is at 3:05.
The Indiana House has voted overwhelmingly to use public funding for a new stadium in Hammond that would be the home of the NFL’s Chicago Bears. The House passed Senate Bill 27 by a 95-4 margin to create a state board to finance bonds to build a new stadium for the Bears, who have committed $2 billion toward the project. To cover the rest, the state plans to use a setup similar to how Indianapolis built Lucas Oil Stadium – relying on taxes from tickets, hotel stays, and food and drinks rather than hiking income taxes for everyone else.
The NFL Scouting Combine is underway in downtown Indianapolis as the top collegiate athletes showcase their skills for coaches and front office personnel with each of the league’s 32 teams. It’s the 39th consecutive year that Indianapolis has hosted the event. Visit Indy announced last month that the Combine would remain in the Circle City through at least 2028.
