The Reds beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 to salvage the series finale as heard yesterday on WRBI. Cincinnati still has not been swept this year. Brady Singer did not figure into the decision but he was brilliant on the mound. Singer gave up one run on one hit with nine strikeouts in 6 innings. Austin Hays had three hits and drove in the go ahead run for Cincinnati. Spencer Steer clubbed a three-run homer in the eighth inning to break it open. Graham Ashcraft got the win in relief to run his record to 8-5. Cincinnati moves to within game and a half of the final National League Wild Card spot with the win and the New York Mets loss on Sunday. The Reds head back to Los Angeles to start a three-game series tonight against the Dodgers. Hunter Greene gets the start for Cincinnati. He’s 5-3 with a 2.63 earned run average. The Dodgers counter with righthander Emmet Sheehan, who is 0-3 with a 4.22 ERA. Coverage begins at 9:40 on 103.9 FM.
The Minnesota Lynx topped the Indiana Fever 97-84 in WNBA action last night. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 26 points. The Fever drops to 19-18 and will back at it tomorrow night at home against the Seattle Storm.
