The Reds blanked the San Francisco Giants 2-0 on the West Coast in a game heard late last night on WRBI. It was a scoreless contest until Blake Dunn clubbed a two-run double in the 8th inning to provide the game’s only runs. Reds starter Hunter Greene pitched another gem. He went 8 2/3 innings and allowed four hits while striking out seven and walking one. Tony Santillan recorded the final out to nail down the save. Game two of the series is tonight. The Pacers return home tonight to face the Washington Wizards. Indiana has won four in a row and solidifying its hold on the fourth spot in NBA Eastern Conference playoffs with three regular season games remaining after tonight. Tipoff in downtown Indianapolis is at 7:00.
The Florida Gators are the men’s college basketball national champions after rallying from a 12-point deficit in the second half to beat the Houston Cougars 65-63 last night at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. It’s the third national championship in program history for Florida, and the Gators first since winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
