The Reds held off the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 in the series opener at Great American Ball Park as heard last night on WRBI. Cincinnati led 1-0 in the 1st inning when Jeimar Candelario clubbed a two-run homer. The Reds plated what turned out to be their final runs of the night in the 3rd before the Pirates scored their only runs in the 5th off Reds starter Brady Singer on an Adam Frazier home run with Tommy Pham on base. Pham drove in Pittsburgh’s first run. Singer earned his third win. Emilio Pagan struck out two and pitched a clean 9th inning to nail down the save. The two teams meet again tonight. Andrew Abbott makes his season debut. He’ll be opposed by fellow lefthander Andrew Heaney. WRBI coverage begins at 6:10. The series wraps up tomorrow afternoon. Airtime Sunday on 103.9 FM is 1:10.

The Orlando Magic topped the Pacers 129-115 last night in the Gainbridge Fieldhouse regular season finale. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle chose to rest his starters after the Blue and Gold clinched home court advantage through the first round of the NBA playoffs with Thursday night’s win over Cleveland. The loss snaps Indiana’s six game winning streak. The regular season wraps up tomorrow when the Pacers visit the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.
