(Versailles, IN) – The South Ripley Raiders beat the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles 85-57 in boys’ high school basketball heard Friday night WRBI.

The Raiders claimed their second consecutive Ohio River Valley Conference championship with a 6-0 mark, and end the regular season at 18-5 overall.

The Eagles finish the regular year at 4-18 overall and 3-3 in the ORVC.

Ripley’s Drew Volz led all scorers with 27 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out eight assists, and recorded four steals.

Teammate Eli Gilpin added 22 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots; Dylan Jessee tossed in 13 points, and senior Bryson Sipples tallied 10 points, nine rebounds and three steals in his final home game.

Darian Grieshop led JCD with 24 points while Blake Wagner added 20.

The Raiders led at all stops, jumping out to 27-15 lead after one; 43-29 at the half; and 62-43 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

This year’s South Ripley Athletic Hall of Fame inductees were introduced at halftime of the varsity contest. They are Steve Ahaus, Ted Ahaus. Katie Graves Sheets, Jason Gambrell, Gary Holdsworth, and WRBI sportscaster Bob Meyer.

South Ripley won the JV contest 43-36. The Raiders claim the ORVC JV title with a 6-0 mark.

The varsity Raiders will open play in the IHSAA Class 2A Sectional 45 semifinal at Southwestern (Hanover) Friday night at 7:30 against the winner of the Brown County/Southwestern contest on Tuesday. We’ll have the South Ripley game that night on the Sports Voice following 3A action at South Dearborn.

The Eagles will take on Oldenburg Academy in Class 1A Sectional 60 first round action at Milan on Wednesday. Coverage that night begins at 5:45 on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App.
