(Greensburg, IN) – Representatives from Geenex Solar appeared before Decatur County Commissioners this week to present the Economic Development Agreement (EDA) for the proposed Cobia Solar project.
Wayne DeLong and Donny Decastro say they intend to honor the project’s original financing commitment, and that they will not take advantage of tax reductions put in place by Senate Enrolled Act 1.
The company wants to lease 7,000 acres in the Burney/Clay Township area on which they would build a commercial solar facility.
After the presentations, commissioners said they will discuss the EDA and make a decision at their August 4 meeting after they receive a final analysis from Baker Tilly Consultants.
It was noted that any agreements under consideration are contingent on the Decatur County Board of Zoning Appeals’ approval of the company’s request for a special exception at the August 6 BZA meeting.
