SLS vs East Central 7th grade basketball

The Lady Cardinals traveled to East Central last night and played their best basketball of the season. The ladies went into the half trailing 17 to 8. The defensive efforts from the cardinals caused a problem for the Trojans in the first half of the game. Lucy Brelage finished the game with 2 points and played stellar defense as the defensive anchor at the top of the zone. Ellie Weberding and Kristen Obermeyer chased the ball with great ferocity, forcing a combine 9 turnovers. They grabbed 50/50 balls and rebounds throughout the game. Lydia Dwyer’s 8 points lead the team in scoring. Lydia also played great defense, not allowing any baskets from her corner all game. Cassie Meneses played a tough, physical brand of basketball right out of halftime, shutting down the Trojan’s star center and keeping her from scoring any baskets in the 3rd quarter. Claire Baker finished with 6 points and showed great hustle ending with 5 steals.

The final score was 16-33 in favor of the Trojans. The next game is Thursday 6pm at SLS against South Dearborn. Come out and support your Lady Cardinals basketball team!
