A plea hearing is expected today in Decatur County Circuit Court for Paige M. Simon of Osgood. Felony counts of stalking and official misconduct along with a misdemeanor charge of battery were filed against Simon in April of 2023 after it was reported she was sending inappropriate text messages to a 15-year-old student while serving as an educator at South Decatur High School. Court files say that 600 texts were sent between Simon and the student before the juvenile stopped responding. Simon allegedly continued to send texts, some of inappropriate nature and was accused of appearing at one of the juvenile’s baseball games. Multiple court dates have been pushed back since Simon’s arrest in 2023 and that includes a bench trial that had originally been scheduled for last week on July 23. Today’s plea hearing is currently scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
