Sheriff Resigns as Franklin Co. 9-1-1 Director

(Franklin County, IN) – Sheriff Pete Cates has resigned as Franklin County 9-1-1 Director.

Cates has been serving dual roles with no salary increase since he was sworn in. This practice started with Cates’ predecessor, former Sheriff Ken Murphy.

Sheriff Cates submitted his resignation as 9-1-1 to Franklin County Commissioners last week, saying he was spread thin and that a full-time director should be in place.

He added the county needs to concentrate on establishing the 9-1-1 Center in a building on Franklin Avenue in Brookville that is currently home to the town’s administration offices.

The Town of Brookville plans to move those offices to another location.
