Graduating seniors from some local high schools can apply for a scholarship through the New Point Volunteer Fire Department and Miller Family Scholarship.
Students from North Decatur, South Decatur, Greensburg, Jac-Cen-Del and Batesville who will graduate in 2014 and plan to attend an accredited college, vocational school, business or trade school can apply for one of four scholarships worth $500.
These awards are based on volunteer community service work completed by students during high school years.
Applications are evaluated anonymously and financial need is not considered. Scholarship awards will be presented to the winning students at the high school academic awards programs in May.
Applications are available in the high school guidance offices. To be considered, completed forms must be received by the scholarship committee no later than Friday, May 2.
