(Batesville, IN) – Local author Paul Satchwill has released his debut book of poetry and prose, MY TURN, a poignant and powerful exploration of identity, grief, and personal transformation.
Now available on Amazon, the book has already begun resonating with readers for its raw honesty, lyrical language, and striking emotional clarity.
Structured in three sections—Burrowed, Emergence, and Flight—the collection mirrors the life cycle of a cicada, using vivid natural imagery and personal reflection to chart a journey from hiding to self-acceptance and freedom.
Satchwill blends poetry, short essays, and visual storytelling in a body of work that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
“Writing this book has been a long time coming because I knew I had an important, relatable story to tell,” Satchwill said. “My hope with this body of work is that those who read it will see themselves—or someone they love—in the pages. We often assume that by a certain age, we’ve arrived at who we’re meant to be—but becoming is a lifelong process. It takes time, intention, and often, a great deal of inner work. This book tells the story of that journey—of the work it took for me to arrive here, more whole and more myself than ever before.”
MY TURN is accompanied by a short film of the same name, combining vintage footage and original narration to bring the story’s emotional arc to life. The short film can be viewed at paulsatchwill.com.
Satchwill, a native of Southeastern Indiana, is known for his storytelling across both educational and artistic spaces. With MY TURN, he offers a heartfelt and hopeful message about the courage it takes to grow into your truest self.
MY TURN is available now on Amazon.
