Sandra “Sandy” Joy (Speyerer) Curtis passed away at the age of 78 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Sandy was born on Monday, November 15, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of Norman and Everta (Dean) Speyerer. Sandy married Danny Curtis in 1987 and he survives. Sandy previously worked for the Railroad Inn in Milan, Dante’s Restaurant in Western Hills, and her latest employer was Grand Victoria Casino as a bar tender. Her family said she was a super hard worker and always gave her all. She loved to sit in her swing under her trees and enjoyed reading books, word puzzles, riding motorcycles, gardening, and a true animal lover, especially her dogs and cats. She enjoyed luncheons with her friends at D.J.’s.
Sandy will be greatly missed by her husband Danny Curtis of Dillsboro; sons Kenny Riley (Julie) of Moores Hill, Toby Riley (Carrie Mellen) of Dillsboro, and Carl Riley (Kathy) of Napoleon; daughter Danielle Dornbach (Chris) of Batesville; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Everta Speyerer, and one great-grandchild.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Sandy from 4:00 – 6:00pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 6:00pm with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Memorials may be given in honor of Sandy to the Ripley County Humane Society, P.A.W.S. of Dearborn County, or the cancer society.
