(St. Leon, IN) – The Sunman-Dearborn School Corporation, the school board and the Sunman-Dearborn Educators Association have shaken hands on a new, two-year teachers’ contract.
Teachers will receive a $1,500 raise for the current school year and next (2026-27).
Those with an Early Literacy endorsement are in line for an additional $500 to be added to their base salary.
The district’s starting pay for 2025-26 is $49,500, and $50,000 for ’26-27 – which Superintendent Dr. Andrew Jackson says puts Sunman-Dearborn at the top in Southeastern Indiana when it comes to teacher salaries.
In addition, the district will bump up premium contributions by three percent, and continue to deposit $1,500 for single, or $3,000 for families into an Health Savings Account for teachers.
They also added stipends for girls wrestling coaches, which were not in the previous contract because it’s a new varsity sport.
The Sunman-Dearborn School Board unanimously signed off on the contract at last week’s meeting.
