
(Decatur County, IN) – Former Washington Township Trustee Christian Rust turned himself in to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office late Wednesday morning after he was charged with Theft and Official Misconduct.
As WRBI first told you Wednesday, the 36-year-old Rust is facing four felony counts after an Indiana State Police investigation determined that he allegedly committed the theft of thousands of dollars during his time as township trustee.
Rust, who now lives in Carmel, also allegedly removed files from government computers.
He is free on his own recognizance following his initial hearing via video conference from the Decatur County Detention Center Wednesday afternoon.
His trial has been set for November 17 at 9 a.m. in Decatur Superior Court with Judge Matthew Bailey presiding.
