Runs Aplenty in ND Softball Win

There were runs aplenty on Friday, as North Decatur Varsity Chargers topped Waldron Varsity Mohawks 27-9. North Decatur Varsity Chargers collected 18 hits, while Waldron Varsity Mohawks had 10.

Madison Rohls collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Rohls singled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

North Decatur Varsity Chargers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alexis Rogers induced Kendall Hostkoetter to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Libby Crawford singled, scoring one run, Ally Whitaker doubled, scoring two runs, Rogers induced Elizabeth Meister to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, Carmen Thackery doubled, scoring one run, and Crawford was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

North Decatur Varsity Chargers scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Meister singled, scoring one run, Rohls singled, scoring one run, Thackery doubled, scoring two runs, Hostkoetter singled, scoring one run, and Brooklyn White singled, scoring two runs.

North Decatur Varsity Chargers scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Rohls singled, scoring one run, Thackery doubled, scoring one run, Hostkoetter doubled, scoring two runs, and Mia Stier drew a walk, scoring one run.

Brynlee Green earned the win for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out five and walking seven. Haddison Johnson took the loss for Waldron Varsity Mohawks. The hurler went three innings, giving up 12 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking six. Rogers opened the game for Waldron Varsity Mohawks. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and 15 runs over two innings, striking out none and walking nine.

North Decatur Varsity Chargers collected 18 hits in the game. Rohls, White, and Thackery each collected three hits for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. Hostkoetter and Thackery were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in four runs for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. Crawford collected two hits for North Decatur Varsity Chargers in two at bats. Green paced North Decatur Varsity Chargers with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 15 walks for the game. Hostkoetter and Rohls each stole multiple bases for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. North Decatur Varsity Chargers stole eight bases in the game.

Waldron Varsity Mohawks collected 10 hits in the game. Rogers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Waldron Varsity Mohawks with four runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day.

Lilly Reese, Brooklyn Milbourn, and Rogers each collected two hits for Waldron Varsity Mohawks. Waldron Varsity Mohawks worked the count all day, tallying seven walks.
