RISING SUN, IN — The Rising Sun Regional Foundation (RSRF) awarded a total of $236,352 in thirteen new grants in the first quarter of 2022.
These grants included:
- $40,000.00 to the Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation for playground renovation.
- $36,000.00 to the Ripley County Humane Society for rebuilding and constructing new kennels.
- $5,000.00 to the South Ripley Community School Corporation for the purchase of four vape detectors.
- $20,000.00 to the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for the resurfacing of the walking track.
- $11,000.00 to the Hogan Twp. Volunteer Fire Company #1 for the purchase of a water hose.
- $1,903.00 to Ohio County Rescue Service for materials for address signs.
- $23,848.93 to the Ohio County Community Foundation to replace the fire alarm and security system at the education center.
- $10,000.00 to the Rising Sun for pool slide repairs and canopy replacement.
- $30,000.00 to the Rising Sun Municipal Utilities for 3-phase electrical pole lines.
- $25,000.00 to the Rising Sun Ohio County Community School Corporation for the purchase of vape detectors.
- $3,600.00 to the Rising Sun Ohio County Parks & Recreation Board for two spring riders for playgrounds.
- $20,000.00 to the Rising Sun Ohio County Senior Citizen Housing for painting murals in the common areas of the hallways of senior housing.
- $10,000.00 to the Rising Sun/Ohio County First, Inc. for improvements to the building located at 223-225 Main St.
In 2021, the Rising Sun Regional Foundation awarded $1,000,000 in grants to organizations representing Ohio County, Ripley, and the City of Aurora.
The Rising Sun Regional Foundation was created in 1994 by the City of Rising Sun and is now funded by the Rising Star Casino & Resort, owned by Full House Resorts, Inc., which makes monthly contributions to the foundation based on a percentage of its Adjusted Gross Revenue.
To date, the foundation has received more than $45 million in riverboat funds, of which at least 75% has been granted back to the community.
