Rose Mary Moreland, 89, of Dillsboro passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at her residence. Rose Mary was born Monday, August 25, 1930 in Hooven, Ohio, the daughter of William and Lois (Pendergast) Guard. She married Jack Moreland September 30, 1950 and he preceded her in death December 6, 2008. She was a member of Dillsboro United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was a member of the 1948 Class of Taylor High School in North Bend, Ohio and Southeastern Emmaus of Indiana. She volunteered at the Dillsboro food pantry and her church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Rose Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, baking (known for her lemon pies), cooking, tending to her yard, cleaning, loved the outdoors and walking her dog.
Rose Mary is survived by daughters: Leeanne Maltbie (Thom) of Dillsboro and Jane Moreland (Claudia Young) of Yorktown, VA; 2 grandchildren: Emily (Mike) Bennett and Tanner (Jaime) Maltbie; and 1 great grandchild Carson Rose Maltbie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son Daniel Moreland and brother William Guard.
A service celebrating her life will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 28, at Dillsboro United Methodist Church, 10071 Front Street, Dillsboro, IN 47018, with Pastor Deb Beason officiating. Family and friends may gather to share and remember her 9 AM – 11 AM Saturday also at the church.
