Rose Marilyn Hellmich, 87

Rose Marilyn Hellmich, 87, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025. Born on December 28, 1937, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Rose was the daughter of Cecil and Dorothy (Goff) Tennell. She graduated from Boggstown High School in 1956.
Rose married Joseph Hellmich on November 29, 1969, and together they raised five daughters. A devoted wife and mother, Rose was known for her happy spirit, friendly nature, and spunky personality. She was generous, strong-willed, and deeply family-oriented, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. She especially loved supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events.
She dedicated many years as a bus driver for the Greensburg Community School Corporation, where she was admired for her kindness among the students.
Rose was a member of the Rural Couples and an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she participated in the Daughters of Isabella and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Rose’s warmth and generosity touched all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Survivors include: daughters, Faith (Jeff) Koors, Katherine (Don) Settles, Brenda Sallee, and Crystal (Kevin) Foster; grandchildren, Bruce (Angel) Phillips, Joe (Joanna) Koors, Candice Jones, Angel Frazier, Frankie (Kelly Walker) Settles, Kimbriana Settles, Kristi Seals, April McGuire, Brandi (Shane) Padilla, Zach (Jeremy) Davis, John (Leanna) Davis, Jacob (Jordan) Forbes, Drew (Megan) Foster, Trevor (Claire) Foster and Jenna Foster ; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and brother, Ronnie (Jean) Tennell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Hellmich; daughter, Penny Phillips; granddaughter, Stacey Phillips; great grandson, Cameron Davis sisters, Doris Kendall, Betty Runshe and Norma Meal; and brothers, Harold Tennell, Cecil Tennell, Maurice Tennell and William Tennell.
Rosary will be prayed on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home at 3:00 pm. A reception-style visitation will follow from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 am and can be accessed live on the Funeral Home Facebook Page. Father John Meyer will be officiating.
