Ronda Deleane Brown, 83, of Scipio, passed away at 4:33 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Hickory Creek of Columbus. She was born on April 14, 1942, in Albany, Kentucky, the daughter of Willie and Rose (Brown) Ferrill. She was a Jennings County resident the majority of her life. She received a bachelor’s degree in library science from Ball State University in 1964 and was a librarian at Bartholomew County Library. Her hobbies include reading books, scrapbooking, genealogy and sewing. She married James Melvis Brown on December 20, 1968, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2026. She is survived by her sons, Jason (Michelle) Brown of Greensburg and James Brown of Scipio; her sisters, Genira England of Lexington, North Carolina and Doris Sutton of North Vernon; her brothers, Bill (Wilma) Ferrill of Westport, Jerry (Glenda) Ferrill of Nashville, Indiana, Jim Ferrill of North Carolina, Mike (Doloris) Ferrill of Millhousen, Barry (Carol) Ferrill of Columbus and Larry Ferrill of Greenwood; her grandchildren, Breanna (Noah) Dougherty and Brayden Wright and her great granddaughter, Lizbeth Dougherty. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her sister, Ruby Ferrill; her brother, Ben Ferrill; her brothers-in-law, Vernon England and Dave Sutton; her sister-in-law, Vicki Ferrill and her granddaughter, Brooke Wright. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
