Ronald “Ron” L. Smith, 75, of Osgood passed away peacefully Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. Ron was born on Monday, October 14, 1946, in Milan, Indiana, the son of Walter and Sylvia (Cole) Smith. Ron proudly served his country in the National Guard and was a member of the Milan American Legion Post #235. Ron worked for Kroger and retired from AEP power plant. He loved playing poker in his garage, cutting firewood, taking care of his place, listening to music, reading books, planting trees on his farm, and was an American history buff.
Ron will be missed by stepsons Rick (Mas) Hawk of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brad Hawk of Milan, Bryan (Tracie) Hawk of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kevin (Michelle) Hawk of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother Wayne (Patsy) Smith of Georgetown, Indiana; sister Jeane Cole of Dayton, Kentucky; many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron is preceded by his parents, Walter and Sylvia, and daughter-in-law Sherry Hawk.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Ron from 11 AM – 12 PM on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 12 PM also at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Full military rites provided by the Milan American Legion Post #235. Memorials may be given in honor of Ron to the Milan American Legion or to the family for the purpose of planting trees.
