Ronald L. “Woody” Woodward

obitRonald L. “Woody” Woodward, 69, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away December 27, 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Woody was born May 9, 1947 in Milan, IN, son of the late Leland Woodward and Louise Jackson Woodward
He served his country as a member of the United States Army as a Drill Sergeant during the Vietnam Conflict, and later worked as a carrier for US Postal Service, retiring after over 35 years of service.

Woody was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora, the Eagles Aerie in Aurora, the 40 et 8, and the Aurora American Legion where he was a Past Commander, He was among one of the first units that became EMT’s in Aurora. Woody was always willing to volunteer, coaching his children in little league and chaperoning kids’ field trips. He enjoyed muzzleloading competition, and held annual horseshoe tournaments at his home. Woody was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed nothing more than riding his beloved Honda Goldwing. He was an avid photographer, and did many local weddings when not doing it for leisure. Woody kept in contact with classmates and was instrumental in organizing class reunions. Above all, Woody loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Bonnie of Aurora, Indiana; children, Christopher (Amanda) Woodward of Franklin, IN, Nichole (Gary) Shelton of Greenwood, IN, Robert (Marie) Upton of Aurora, IN, Steve Upton of Versailles, IN; sisters, Norma (Jimmy) Henke and Kathy (Jeff) South all of Aurora, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Leland Woodward, and Louise Jackson Woodward.

Friends will be received at the Vineyard Community Church, Aurora, Indiana, Thursday December 29, 2016, 5:00pm -8:00pm . (The Old First Baptist Church on 4th Street)

Services will be held at Vineyard Community Church, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
