Apartment fire in Batesville displaces 9 families

UPDATE: Batesville PD chief Stan Holt says that the original call came in as an apartment fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene they knew of one child in the apartment.

Firefighters were able to rescue the child and got it to the hospital in stable condition.

Nine families have been displaced because of the fire, and the American Red Cross is on scene helping the families.

BATESVILLE, Ind. — An active structure fire on Walnut Street between Pearl and Boehringer Streets have prompted several road closures.

A one block radius around the building has been established for road closures.

Batesville, Morris, Greensburg, Sunman, and Oldenburg Fire Departments are currently on scene.
