Richard Lee Herbert, 78, of Greensburg, passed away on November 16, 2021. He was born on April 13, 1943 in Greensburg, Indiana the son of William Robert and Ruth Marie Schreiner Herbert. Richard was a 1961 graduate of Greensburg High School. On December 28, 1963, he married Jane Bainbridge and together they had 5 children. He worked for Cummins for 47 years where he took retirement in 2009. Richard enjoyed restoring Model A Fords and was a member of Model A Restorers Club of Columbus, Indiana. He and Jane traveled many trips in their Model A all across the United States. After retirement, Richard could be found enjoying his time tinkering at the barn, talking Model A’s and enjoying nature.
Survivors include: Wife, Jane Herbert; Children, Deborah (Patrick) Romoser of Cartersburg, IN, Timothy (Julia) Herbert of Greensburg, Thomas Herbert of Greensburg, Daniel (August) Herbert of Andersonville, IN, and Melinda Herbert of Greensburg; Grandchildren, Alyssa (Jesse) Wood, Cory Herbert, Justin Herbert, Kaitlin Herbert, Ethan Herbert, Jared Romoser and Joseph Romoser; Great Grandchildren, David Webb, Rylan Herbert, Kinley Herbert, River Herbert, Easton Herbert, Brody Herbert; Siblings, Don (Peggy) Herbert, Roberta (Melvin) Harpring, Wilma (Drew) Cornn Young, Ruth Ann (Buck) Williams, Catherine Kramer, Rosemary Ward, Barb (Mike) Greiwe, Joe (Lynn) Herbert, Sue (John) Burkhart, Walt (Barb) Herbert, Bill (Mary) Herbert, and Lynn (Ted) Redelman all of Greensburg, and Jim (Mary) Herbert of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and great grandchild Amelia Jane Herbert.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, and his ashes will be scattered at his beloved barn. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Hospice of Decatur/Shelby County.
