Reds close out series with shutout win over Mets

The hot-start by the Cincinnati Reds offense led to an easy 5-0 win on Thursday afternoon.

4 of the 5 runs scored by the Reds came in the first inning. Jake Fraley knocked in the first run. Nick Senzel brought in the 2nd run on an RBI double. The final two runs in the inning were scored on a Kevin Newman single.

The 5th and final run  for Cincinnati came in the bottom  of the 5th when Spencer Steer homered to left center.

Derek Law, Ben Lively, Lucas Sims, and Kevin Herget pitched in the shutout win, combining to give up just six hits. Lively was credited with the win. Herget earned with the save.

Kodai Senga was handed the loss on the mound for the Mets, allowing 5 runs in 5 innings while striking out 7.
