Reds best Brewers to win second straight series

The Reds won their second consecutive series by outslugging the Brewers 14-11 at GABP Wednesday afternoon.

Cincinnati jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and led 14-5 heading into the ninth.  Milwaukee scored six times in the final frame to make it interesting.

For the Redlegs, Tyler Stephenson had two doubles, a single and four RBI. Colin Moran doubled and homered with three ribbies.  Tyler Naquin also plated three runs with a single and a triple while Tommy Pham batted in two runs on three hits.

Of note for the Brew Crew, the NL Central leaders bashed five home runs and Christian Yelich hit for the cycle.

The Reds came up a run short against the Brewers on Tuesday in a 5-4 final.  Cincy starter Hunter Greene had a much better outing than his last one but still took the loss.  Naquin doubled and drove in two.   Stephenson had two hits and one RBI.

The series opened Monday with the Reds getting a 10-5 win which also marked the first time this season they won back-to-back games.

Luis Castillo pitched for the first time in 2022 after coming off the I.L.  He only lasted 4-2/3 innings and got a no decision, but the Reds provided plenty of offensive support with 14 hits.  Moran, Brandon Drury and Kyle Farmer all went deep.  Drury and Farmer both had three RBI.

The Reds travel to Pittsburgh to begin a four-game series with the Pirates.  Listen to Thursday’s game starting right after the 6 pm news block.  First pitch is 6:35 pm.
