Reds beat Dodgers in walk-off fashion for second night in a row

The Cincinnati Reds late-inning heroics from Monday night carried into Tuesday, as Will Benson hit a two-run walk-off home run in the ninth to give Cincinnati an 8-6 win over the LA Dodgers.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top half of the first, the Reds would tie the game up with Elly De La Cruz’s first MLB home run.

The Dodgers went on to score a total of 4 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to make it a 6-2 game. Miguel Vargas knocked in two of those runs thanks to a solo home run in the 2nd and an RBI double in the third.

However, the Reds would rally back in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring 4 runs to tie the game at six. One run was scored on a sacrifice fly by Jonathan India, another scored on a Spencer Steer single, and the tying runs came in on a 2-run home run by Tyler Stephenson.

The offense would stall out for Cincinnati until the aforementioned Will Benson walk-off two-run home run in the ninth.

Elly De La Cruz went 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 RBI.

Alexis Diaz was credited with the win for the Reds, striking out 2 in 1 shutout inning.
