Ray Davidson, age 80 of Batesville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his home. The son of Squire and Julia (nee: Baker) Davidson was born on October 27, 1938 in Oneida, KY. He married Eileen Wilson and she passed away in 2014.
Ray enjoyed being a truck driver for the Batesville Casket Company through the years until he retired. He attended the Batesville Church on Fire. Those who knew Ray, knew he was an avid UK fan and a tolerated IU fan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, golfing or sitting out on his front porch. Ray loved being around his family and friends. His grandkids meant everything to him and was really excited about becoming a great grandpa. He liked being an uncle as well, always lovingly harassing his nephews and nieces. Ray will be missed dearly by all.
He is survived by his daughters, Julia Schmidt (Rob) and Jamie Hertel (Matt) of Batesville; son, Alvin Davidson (Richelle) of Batesville; grandchildren, Austin Davidson (Maranda Ruggles), Jaylon Hilshorst (Sarah Johann) and Katraca Davidson; new great grandson, Bennett Davidson; along with his sister, Nola Dwenger of Hamburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Squire Davidson Jr. and sister, Beatrice Hensley.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 11am – 1pm immediately followed by 1:00pm funeral service all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial to follow in the Batesville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Evan Doyle officiating.
Memorials may be given in memory to the Batesville Church on Fire or MMH Hospice care of the funeral home.
