Raiders And Cardinals Battle In Hoops Thriller

The visiting Raiders continued their hot streak by defeating the Cardinals 36-34. Zach Gentile lead a balanced attack with 12 points; Nick Schwarte and Dalton Smith each scored 8; and Ryan Miller and Bryce Wrightsman added 4.

Grade 8-St. Louis 52, SR 51 (OT)
The host Cardinals kept their undefeated season alive by narrowly defeating the Raiders 52-51 in overtime. St. Louis took a 27-21 advantage into the half, only to see South Ripley fight back and tie the game 44 all at the end of regulation. In overtime, the home team out scored the visitors 8-7 to escape with the thrilling win. Lleyton Ratcliff led the Cardinals with 16 points, which included 2 free throws in OT that proved to be the winning points. Cody Samples led all scorers with 19 points; Lane Sparks had 18; Jacob Jines scored 6 on two three-pointers; and Bryce Franklin and Colby Bush each added 4 points.

The seventh graders improve to 7-8 while the eighth graders drop to 12-3. Both teams will be in action on December 27 in the Cross Town Shootout in Batesville.
